Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
March 12, 2024

Houston County mourns the loss of one of its most cherished figures, former Congressman Terry Everett. Although Congressman Everett's tenure concluded prior to my involvement with Houston County, he was a steadfast ally to the county, Fort Rucker, and veterans throughout his years of service.

As a signatory of the 1994 Contract with America, Congressman Everett was a big believer in limited government and welfare reform. He also played a pivotal role in securing a $1.7 billion increase for veterans' healthcare in 1999. His contributions have undeniably made Houston County and the nation better places.

In honoring his memory, Houston County will fly our flag at half-staff. It will remain in this position until his burial, following the Governor's directive.
