Applications are accepted online only for any open positions. All applications must be received by 4:30 pm on the closing day unless otherwise indicated.
Sheriff's Department

How To Apply
All completed applications and required materials must be filed with the Personnel Department by the final filing date specified on the job listing announcement. Separate application materials must be completed and filed for each job classification. Please give the complete and exact job title as it appears on the job listing; answer all questions and furnish all information requested on the official job application. Resumes and other unsolicited materials will not be considered in lieu of information requested on the application and/or supplemental form unless otherwise stated.

Selection
Vacancies are filled from names appearing on the eligible list. Names of candidates not selected from the eligible list will be retained on the eligible list for future consideration until the expiration date. Any pre-employment testing requirements will be explained on the application.
Status of Applications
Due to the volume of applications received and the transfer of applicants to the various Department Heads, the Personnel Department is unable to advise applicants as to the status of their application. A department representative will contact you if they are interested in scheduling an interview.
Physical Examination
After receiving a conditional job offer, appointees will be required to pass a medical examination conducted at a designated examination sight.
Pre-Employment Drug Screen
Houston County is committed to providing and maintaining a drug-free working environment. After receiving a conditional job offer, appointees are required to pass a drug screen test conducted at a designated testing sight.
