Standard Plates
Standard license plates change on a regular bass with the current standard-issue plate design adopted in 2022. The Alabama Department of Revenue maintains a list of these standard plates available to passenger vehicles, trucks, motor homes, and more.
Personalized Tags
Standard plates and many specialty plates can be customized with a message between 5 and 7 characters in length. The message must be unique to your plate and requires an additional fee.
Specialty Plates
Alabama residents can support colleges and organizations by purchasing specialty license plates. In addition, military veterans may be eligible for special plates to highlight their current or past service.
